
Matthew Chester
Risk Manager, Solaris Health
As Risk Manager, Matthew Chester plays a crucial role in ensuring patient and employee safety, minimizing liability, and maintaining operational efficiency. He is responsible for insurance company reporting and oversight, loss prevention, and claims management, among other duties.
Prior to joining Solaris and for the past 12 years, Chester served as a Risk Manager for a prominent transportation network. During his tenure, he successfully managed a range of complex insurance programs encompassing property and casualty, general liability, workers’ compensation, employee health, employee benefits, and several other programs all while achieving a notable reduction in claims across all areas. His initiatives consistently resulted in decreased claims. Chester also has extensive experience in emergency response preparedness, National Fire and Electrical Code safety, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration compliance.
He holds a Master of Educational Administration from Lamar University and a Bachelor of Science from Texas State University. He has obtained certification from the Management and Strategy Institute as a Corporate Risk Manager Certified (CRMC) and is also certified by Human Resources Certification Institution in Human Resource Management. He holds insurance licenses in life, accident, health & HMO, and property & casualty. Chester is also a yellow belt in Lean Six Sigma, further demonstrating his commitment to continuous improvement in risk management practices.
