President of Spokane Urology, Raymond Lance, MD, is a conscientious urologic oncologist who is passionate about taking care of others and improving their health and wellness through merging science and personalized medicine.

Dr. Lance received his Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho, before obtaining his medical degree in 1991 at the F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland. He completed his internship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. before finishing his urology residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. He obtained his fellowship at the prestigious University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

During his U.S. Army service, Dr. Lance achieved the active-duty rank of lieutenant colonel. He went on to join the Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia, for urology, where he achieved the academic rank of Full Professor of Surgery/Urology.

Ever learning, expanding his education, and sharing his knowledge, Dr. Lance has published over 70 peer-reviewed journal publications and authored several textbook chapters.

Through his training and for many years after, Dr. Lance actively researched molecular biology biomarkers and the treatment of urologic cancers. He takes pride in helping others and teaching other physicians.

For Dr. Lance, research is important, and he encourages a positive mindset and belief system when treating urologic cancer. As the son of a cancer victim, Dr. Lance remains committed to treating each cancer patient as an individual with a compassionate and personalized approach.

Dr. Lance is renowned for his hard work and friendly and caring nature. He’s also a dedicated Christian and believes that spirituality is beneficial and can improve quality of life, particularly when facing cancer.

When he isn’t assisting patients, Dr. Lance enjoys spending time with his family. He’s married to his college sweetheart and they have four adopted children, six horses, a few dogs, and some chickens all nestled in the outskirts of Spokane.
